This is the best root touch up product I’ve tried so far. It solved all the problems I had with the other products. For reference, I’ve tried the spray, the sponge thing that’s kind of like eyeshadow, the little comb that dispenses color, the powder, and other brands of hair mascaras like this one. The mascaras were already my favorite method being the most precise and least messy. However, they took a long time to set and, even after setting, the color would still transfer ie to my brush, pillowcase or hands. It was especially bad on hotter days. This one has all the advantages of the mascara but sets WAY better and doesn’t transfer. Seems to work great so far. I don’t have a ton of grays but a few pop-up here in there and this seems to be a good way to help dye them. I also like the fact that it is water resistant and easy to apply. This definitely is not suited for people who are looking for full gray coverage but if you have a few, then this is a good alternative than going through the hassle of dying.

There isn’t much to like about this product. It is a hair dye (not a hair mascara as described). The purpose of a hair dye is to apply color to the hair to change its color. In this case, the spoolie brush does not apply the color. You get a blob at the tip end (like a poorly designed mascara wand) and a blob at the base and no color from the bristles. (Yes, I tried rolling the tube in my hands the way one warms up a mascara tube.) There is also an unnecessary warning not to let the product splash on you.The spoolie brush suggests that application should be simple, but the instructions instead direct users to paint the product on and dry it with a hair dryer for three minutes. This is a very good one root touch up - the mascara like wand was surprisingly great.I have a lot of gray around the front of my face - around the temples, widow's peak, etc. The older I get the more tired I am of coloring my hair. It was fun to color my hair when I wanted highlights or a prettier job but it's less fun when it's "just' to cover up the grays. Also gray hair just doesn't take color as well and doesn't last long. If I were to keep up with hiding the gray on my roots, I would need to go to the salon every other week and that's a waste of time and money.
